Two facing drug charges after being pulled over for running red light

OPP say the driver and a passenger were in possession of drugs, and the driver’s licence was suspended

Two people are facing drug charges after OPP pulled over a vehicle for failing to stop at a red light in Elliot Lake.

Officers spotted the black minivan in the area of Hillside Drive South at around 3:45 a.m.

OPP say the driver and a passenger were in possession of drugs, and the driver’s licence was suspended.

Kevin Berry, 36, and Callie Gurman, 42, both of Elliot Lake were charged with possession of a Schedule I substance - cocaine.

In addition, Berry was charged with driving while under suspension and failing to stop at a red light and the vehicle was towed.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and the accused are considered innocent unless proven guilty.
