Community Living Algoma (CLA) is hosting a free Community BBQ and you’re invited!
Let’s gather together to enjoy food, music, games and conversation in a community setting that welcomes everyone. Invite a friend, bring your neighbour, invite a newcomer to the community or renew an acquaintance and invite them to join up with everyone.
For 70 years, inclusion has been a constant message in any of the services or supports that CLA offers to children, youth and adults with intellectual disabilities. CLA believes, overall, that authentic citizenship is what makes a community truly ‘a community.’ Authentic inclusion is a place where all people feel like they are welcomed, respected and valued in their community.
At Community Living Algoma, they believe that people with a developmental disability must be able to access the same education, housing, employment, social, leisure, recreation, and retirement options as anyone else, and that they have the right to make informed choices about their life.
If you are familiar with Community Living Algoma, it may have been a while since you last connected or perhaps you are new to the conversation. They want to encourage a renewal of dialogue to ensure the continuation of the rewards of authentic citizenship for everyone.
CLA is honoured to have a satellite office in Elliot Lake (9 & 11 Saskatchewan Road), where its support team can reach out to people in the East Algoma area.
Let’s get the conversation flowing and community inclusion ‘growing’ at our Community BBQ. Please join CLA at the Collins Hall on Thursday, September 5 from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. for hamburgers, hotdogs, music and games. Bring nothing but your passion for community and a willingness to celebrate authentic inclusion – where everyone is welcomed and new friendships can be found.
