Temporary validation sticker leads to charge for Elliot Lake driver

TOWNSHIP OF THE NORTH SHORE - On April 14, 2018, members from the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on patrol on Highway 17 near the Village of Spragge.

Shortly after 3 p.m., police observed an eastbound vehicle with a temporary validation sticker affixed to the front licence plate. A traffic stop was initiated near the junction of Highway 17 and Martin Road. Investigation determined the male driver was suspended.

As a result of the investigation, Cody Richer, 21 years of age from Elliot Lake, Ont. was charged with driving while under suspension, contrary to section 53(1) of the Highway Traffic Act.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River on June 20, 2018.
