One arrested in Espanola intimate partner violence investigation

One individual has been arrested and charged following an intimate partner disturbance.

On June 19, 2024 shortly before 11 a.m., the Manitoulin Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to an assault in Espanola. 

As a result of the investigation, a 31-year-old person from Whitefish River First Nation has been charged with:

  • Fail to comply with probation order - three counts
  • Break, enter a dwelling house with intent to commit indictable offence
  • Assault cause bodily harm - choke, suffocate or strangle
  • Forcible confinement
  • Mischief
  • Theft over $5,000 of a motor vehicle

The accused was held in custody.

Due to the nature of the incident, the name of the accused will not be released to protect the identity of the victim.
