Elliot Lake man charged with impaired driving

An Elliot Lake resident is facing impaired driving charges.

At around 9 a.m. Tuesday, Ontario Provincial Police were told a man was drinking in his car in a grocery store parking lot.

Arriving officers found the man in the driver’s seat of a vehicle. They alleged he had beer under his seat.

Peter Back, 65, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired - Alcohol and Drugs
  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

In addition, the vehicle was impounded.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and the accused is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
