Driver charged after transport truck tips over on Highway 17

BLIND RIVER - On June 13, 2018 shortly after 5:30 a.m., members of the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single motor vehicle collision involving a lone tractor trailer near the junction of Highway 17 and Oak Street in the Town of Blind River.

Investigation determined that a westbound tractor trailer entered a ditch on the north side of the highway and came to rest on its side causing major damage to the cab. The driver was transported to local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

As a result of the investigation, Parminder Singh, 22 years of age from Brampton, Ont. was issued a provincial offence notice and charged with careless, contrary to section 130 of the Highway Traffic Act.
