The Wikwemikong Tribal Police Service (WTPS) and the Manitoulin Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Crime Unit are investigating a death.
On April 29, 2024 shortly after 11 p.m., the WTPS and the Manitoulin-Sudbury Paramedic Services responded to a person in medical distress on Henry Street in Wikwemikong Unceded Territory. This person was transported to hospital where they were later pronounced deceased.
The Manitoulin OPP Crime Unit is conducting an investigation, in conjunction with WTPS and the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario and Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.
There is no threat to public safety at this time.
