Get ready for Cameco's upcoming annual Charity Golf Tournament, which raises awareness and support for mental health in the Blind River community.

The May 24th event raises money for the Cameco Fund for Mental Health under its Step Up for Mental Health Initiative, which recognizes the importance and need for mental health resources in the local community and that funding mental health services is essential to improving access and support for those who need it.

"Step Up for Mental Health is a unique community initiative to support mental wellness projects in the communities where we operate," Terry Davis, general manager of Blind River Refinery, explains.

Cameco hosts walks, runs, and golf tournaments in Northumberland County and Blind River. While this is only the third Blind River Charity Golf Tournament, it has already raised $32,000 for mental health since its inception in 2022.

"These activities have not only raised funds and supported programs and organizations but also contributed to ending the stigma surrounding mental health," Davis says, adding that mental health affects everyone, either directly or indirectly, regardless of gender, ethnicity or age.

"Opportunities like our golf tournament provide an avenue for people to step up in support of mental health by raising both funds and awareness," Davis says.

While the May 24th event is sold out, people can still support the cause through donations and sponsorships.
