ATV passenger accused of not wearing helmet

BLIND RIVER - On April 10, 2018, members from the East Algoma Provincial Police (OPP) received a traffic complaint of a male passenger on an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) not wearing a helmet.

Shortly after 4 p.m., an off duty officer observed two males on an ATV with the passenger not wearing a helmet while it was being operated pull into a parking lot the local liquor store. The ATV left the parking lot and continued in an eastbound direction onto Woodward Avenue and turned southbound onto Huron Avenue. Police observed the two males pull into a private drive and dismount from the ATV.

As a result of the investigation, the passenger Ted Bergeron, 57 years of age from Blind River, Ont. was issued a provincial offence notice and charged with:
    •    Passenger - no helmet or improper helmet, contrary section 19(1) of the Highway Traffic Act Ontario Regulations 316.
