Sunshine list reveals top earners in the area

28 employees of St. Joseph's General Hospital were on the list

A total of 28 workers from Elliot Lake's St. Joseph’s General Hospital made this year’s Sunshine List of public employees making more than $100,000. That was an increase of three employees compared with the 2017 earnings figures.

Hospital chief executive officer Pierre Ozolins again topped the entire list for the City of Elliot Lake public earners with a salary of $190,984.99.

St. Joseph's General's chief nursing executive director of clinical services Connie Free made $147,329.56, as director of finance Janice Campbell earned $130,988.26. Director of facilities management Tim White made $128,655.35 and Oaks Centre director Barbara Ridley made $118,500.80.

Several registered nurses also made the list. Some of them include Julian Lavallee ($102,765.55), Wendy Stainthorpe ($116,267.85), Debbie Dorion ($132,818.41), Rose Duhaime ($111,305.42), Shawn Beaulieu ($112,965.82) and Doris Janveaux ($111,198.85). Most of the nurses on the latest Sunshine list earned less than they did in 2017.

Among Elliot Lake City Hall employees, CAO Daniel Gagnon topped the Sunshine List with earnings of $149,480.98, higher than his predecessor Jeffrey Renaud who got $143,304.81 when he last worked for the City of Elliot Lake.

Director of Protective Services John Thomas showed a strong increase over 2017 when he earned $124,317.34.

In 2018, Chief Thomas received $143,566.33.

Even though she retired part way through 2018, former director of clerks and building services Lesley Sprague still made a strong impact on the 2018 City of Elliot Lake earners list by receiving $109,288.57, about $800 more than she got in 2017.

New to the sunshine List at City Hall in 2018 are assistant Public Works manager Richard Barrette with earnings of $102,372.84 and Information Technology manager Robin Scott at $100,115.99.

Those making the list in Elliot Lake Fire Services include all four captains: Darren Conners ($118,697.90.), Paul Eldon ($120,376.99), David George ($124,893.93) and Adam Vance ($123,217.50).

Other firefighters making the list include Dan Kluke ($115,895.00) and John Green ($112,979.38).

In the education system, Elliot Lake Secondary School principal Rick Juuti made $133,847.63, while vice principal Ryan Forsyth got $123,617.82.

École Georges Vanier principal Hassam Azzi made $128,307.53 as Villa Francaise des Jeunes principal Christian Giroux made $126,032.51.

Our Lady of Fatima principal Maria Young made $121,513.62, while Our Lady of Lourdes principal Rachel Biedermann made $118,902.94. Vice principal Andrew Chi earned $109,832.54.

Central Avenue Public School principal Angelo D’Amato made $121,566.63, while Esten Park Public School principal Darryn Grant made $110,733.68

Blind River clerk-adminstrator Kathryn Scott was once again the lone municipal employee in her town to make the list at $101,302.67.

WC Eaket Secondary School principal Brian Beauchamp earned $134,748.01 while vice-principal Kayla Fairbrother made $118,656.31.

Blind River Public School principal Sue Baillargeon earned $110,618.47, while vice-principal Ryan McCabe made $107,934.09.

École secondaire catholique Jeunesse Nord principal Eric Lebrun earned $125,950.57.

École St-Joseph principal Julie Chenard-Azzi earned $123,603.39 while St. Mary’s School principal Stephane Prevost earned $121,513.62.
