Phase 2 building of the new City of Elliot Lake waterfront project on Highway 108 north of the city core is expected to get underway this year. Pending Elliot Lake City Council approval, the work will include a pier, docks and boat launching facilities. It entails the installation of a 50-metre fishing pier, replacement of the boat launch docks, and the addition of slip docking for additional boats, along with related landscaping.

The project is aimed at creating a tourism nodal point on Elliot Lake. The municipal boat launch dock area on Highway 108 is set for completion during the warm weather months this year. City Coordinator of Economic Development Ashten Vlahovich has recommended that City Council approve the project by agreeing to a contract worth $646,405 + HST. The contractor is Kropf Industrial Inc.

In phase 1 of the project last year, the original boardwalk was replaced in September 2018, by the construction of a fully accessible floating boardwalk along the shoreline, adjacent to the boat launch. It included seating and lighting along with non-slip composite decking for improved accessibility. The permanent structure extends from the shoreline to provide increased access to the lake and opportunity for fishing.
