Cornstock brings music to Lauzon Shores

Corn on the cob, hot dogs, sausages and ice cream, too

“Everybody knows that music is love,” musician and songwriter Stephen Stills of mega group Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young once penned as a song performed by the group.

The same theme came to rest on the shores of Lake Lauzon Saturday as Lake Lauzon Resort and Marine hosted Cornstock 2018.

Resort owner Sharon Provencher said Saturday’s event was the eighth year music and the public have combined for a day of homegrown entertainment. Several bands and soloists played on Saturday afternoon and evening, including well-known bands as Steeple People of Blind River, Val Spencer and Northern Cross from Elliot Lake, and soloist Lois O’Hanley.

Juicy corn on the cob, hot dogs and sausages cooked on a wood-fired barbeque by volunteers was on the menu, while ice cream sales were brisk with a steady stream of children and adults enjoying flavours of the famous Farquhar’s ice cream produced on Manitoulin Island.

It was a day enjoyed by the good crowd attending along with those living out the summer in trailers parked at the resort.
