Sault College’s nursing program is a valuable step toward an amazing career in health care. With the newly introduced Ontario Learn and Stay Grant (OLSG), pursuing nursing has never been more possible.
The grant offers significant financial support to cover tuition, books, and essential learning materials, making it easier for you to enter a field that’s in high demand while serving communities in need.
The Ontario Learn and Stay Grant
The grant was created to encourage nursing students like you to build careers in health care. If you’re enrolling in Sault College’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Honours) or Practical Nursing program in September 2025, or continuing from the 2024-25 and 2023-24 academic years, you can apply for the grant. In return for this support, you agree to work in the same region you studied in for six months per academic year funded by the grant, allowing you to make a real impact where healthcare services are most needed.
With applications opening in spring 2025, the OLSG ensures that students in Ontario’s underserved regions have the financial means to choose a path to a career in nursing. By covering education costs upfront, the grant relieves the stress of funding your studies and lets you focus fully on developing the skills needed for a successful career in health care. Pretty amazing, right?
The Rewards
Nursing is more than a job; it’s a calling to make a difference. Every day, nurses provide essential care to those in need, whether it’s conducting health check-ups, assisting with treatment plans, or caring for people recovering from illness. Choosing nursing means becoming part of a profession where you’ll work closely with patients and make a positive, immediate impact on their lives.
Your options in nursing are as varied as they are rewarding. You might specialize in areas like pediatrics, mental health, or elderly care. No matter the path, nursing allows you to pursue personal interests while making a meaningful difference. And in Canada, where healthcare needs are rising, nurses are essential.
High Demand for Nurses
With the current shortage of nurses in Ontario, you will have many opportunities waiting for you. It feels great to be in demand! As of 2024, the government projected that Ontario would need 33,200 more nurses by 2032. The shortage has only increased over recent years, which means your skills are needed now more than ever.
Preparing Your Time to Be
Sault College’s nursing programs combine hands-on experience in simulation labs and clinical placements, preparing you for the real-world demands of nursing. The OLSG allows you to focus on building these skills without financial stress. By choosing Sault College and the Learn and Stay Grant, you’re not just preparing for a stable career — you’re committing to making a difference in communities that need you most.
