The Blind River Soccer Association had a successful season, with over 140 players and 22 volunteers on the field each week.

The not-for-profit organization runs an eight-week soccer program for kids in the North Shore communities every May and June, for ages three to five, six to eight and nine to thirteen in the Blind River town park.

"Watching the kids make memories on the field each week is a privilege that we will never take for granted," said organizers Mel Covert and Matt Fairbrother.

The two organizers said that next year, they're looking at possibly creating a rep and rec team to allow interested players to compete at a higher level.

Registration for the program begins in May to help accommodate their players needs.

Covert and Fairbrother note that the program is supported by mostly parent volunteers that help with administration and coaching and is always looking for more volunteers.
