SPANISH - On July 8, 2018, shortly before 9 p.m., members from the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a domestic dispute where a female had called police on herself and advised police that she had just assaulted her ex-spouse in the Town of Spanish.
Investigation determined that the female attended the Spanish Marina where she began to yell and scream at her ex. She then confronted and physically assaulted her ex-spouse and his date on the Marina boardwalk.
Prior to the assaults she had taken the keys from her ex-spouse's pick up and locked the doors. The ex-spouse and his date left the area and attended a residence on Hamilton Street.
A short time later the female pulled into the driveway in the ex-spouse's pick-up at that residence, jumped out of the pick-up and began to physically assault him and his date once more.
As a result of the investigation, a 29-year-old female from Spanish, Ontario was charged with:
- Assault-spousal (X2), contrary to section 266 of the Criminal Code (CC);
- Assault, contrary to section 266 of the CC;
- Theft of a motor vehicle, contrary to section 333.1 of the CC; and with
- Fail to comply with conditions of undertaking, contrary to section 145(5.1) of the CC.
The accused appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice Video Bail Court in Blind River on July 9, 2018.
