Suspected cocaine, marijuana and meth seized in local drug bust

Two Elliot Lake residents face numerous, serious charges

ELLIOT LAKE, ON - On Feb. 29, 2020, at 7:45 a.m., members of the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attended an apartment on Brunswick Walk in Elliot Lake, Ontario to execute a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) warrant.

The OPP's Emergency Response Team (ERT) and East Algoma uniform members were involved with the investigation.    

As a result of the warrant being executed, police seized a significant amount of suspected cocaine, marihuana, and methamphetamines. Also seized was a cell phone, a large amount of cash, drug paraphernalia, ammunition, and numerous prohibited weapons, including a stun gun and brass knuckles. 

Timothy Crotty, 35 years of age, of Elliot Lake, Ontario was charged with: 

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the Purpose of Trafficking - Cocaine, contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA),
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking - Other Drug, contrary to section 5(2) of the (CDSA),
  • Possession for the Purpose of Distributing, contrary to section 9(2) of the Cannabis Act (CA),
  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000, contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC),
  • Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition (two counts), contrary to section 92(2) of the CC,
  • Possession of Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order (four counts), contrary to section 117.01(1) of the CC,
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order, contrary to section 733.1(1) of the CC.

The accused was scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Court in Blind River, Ontario on March 1, 2020. 

Emma Bourgard, 34 years of age, of Elliot Lake, Ontario was charged with:

  •  Possession of a Schedule I substance for the Purpose of Trafficking - Cocaine, contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA),
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking - Other Drug, contrary to section 5(2) of the (CDSA),
  • Possession for the Purpose of Distributing, contrary to section 9(2) of the Cannabis Act (CA),
  • Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition (two counts), contrary to section 92(2) of the Criminal Code (CC).

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake, Ontario on April 28, 2020.
