Police investigate after 28-year-old found dead on pathway

Person say they are conducting a sudden death investigation after a person was found deceased on a path in Elliot Lake on Friday morning.

East Algoma OPP say on Sept. 20 at around 7a.m., police and Algoma Paramedic Services responded to an unresponsive person call on a pathway off Paris Drive.

Police said a 28-year-old was found vital signs absent at that location and was transported to hospital by ambulance where they were later pronounced deceased.

Police said the cause of death is not known at this time and the investigation is ongoing under the direction of the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.

Police did not indicated whether the deceased was male or female.

A post-mortem examination is expected to take place in Sudbury, police said.

There is no threat to public safety, police added.
