Police find man walking in middle of road, charge him with public intoxication

On May 6, 2018 at approximately 12:30 a.m., East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police members were on general patrol duties on McKeown Road in the City of Elliot Lake, Ont.

Police observed a male walking down the middle of the road and were concerned for his safety. The intoxicated male refused to speak to officers and was very vulgar towards police. 

Shannon Melis, 47 years of age, from Elliot Lake, Ont. was charged with:

  • Being intoxicated in a public place, contrary to section 31(4) of the Liquor License Act (LLA). 

As a result, he was arrested and lodged until sober.
