Off-leash dispute turns violent at the dog park

Police say one person used a weapon in the alleged attack

On July 2, 2018, at approximately 5:50 p.m., members of the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police responded to an assault call at a park area within the City of Elliot Lake, Ontario. 

The female complainants had reported their dog getting off leash in the park area. Another group of people in the park were upset with this. Pictures were being taken of each-others actions and a verbal altercation ensued. The altercation ended when the females were assaulted by three people in the other group.

The following three people were subsequently arrested and charged:         

Ann Marie Templeman, 56 years of age, of Elliot Lake, Ontario was charged with:

  • Assault, contrary to section 266 of the Criminal Code (CC)

Tony Templeman, 59 years of age, of Elliot Lake, Ontario was charged with:

  • Assault with a Weapon (two counts), contrary to section 267(a) of the Criminal Code (CC)

Michael MacInnis, 26 years of age, of Elliot Lake, Ontario was charged with:

  • Assault, contrary to section 266 of the Criminal Code (CC)

The accused parties are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake, Ontario on Sept. 11, 2018.
