Eight people face a number of drug-related charges after a search warrant was executed in the Massey area on Sept. 1.
Manitoulin Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) said in a news release that officers seized approximately $28,000 worth of narcotics that included fentanyl, oxycodone and cocaine, as well as diamond rings and “edged weapons.”

SAGAMOK ANISHNAWBEK FIRST NATION - On Sept. 1, 2022 at approximately 11 p.m., the Manitoulin Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) search warrant at a residence on New Subdivision Road, Sagamok Anishnawbek First Nation.
The OPP, with the assistance of the Anishinabek Police Service (APS), executed a CDSA Warrant to Search. As a result, approximately $8,000 in Canadian currency, over 76 grams of suspected fentanyl, over 20 grams of suspected cocaine, approximately 35 suspected suboxone pills, approximately 32 suspected oxycodone pills, approximately 12 suspected percocet pills, numerous cell phones, digital scales, edged weapons, and numerous diamond rings were seized. The estimated value of the drugs is approximately $28,000.
The OPP's Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB), and uniform members were involved with the investigation.
Justin Foster, 39 years old from Sagamok Anishnawbek First Nation, was charged with Failure to Comply with Release Order - Other Than to Attend Court, contrary to section 145(5)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC). The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on Oct. 24, 2022.
Darrell Nahmiwan, 29 years old from Sagamok Anishnawbek First Nation, was charged with:
• Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking - Cocaine, contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA
• Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking - Opioid (other than heroin) (Four Counts), contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA
• Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000, contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the CC
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on Oct. 24, 2022.
Ian Nahmiwan, 31 years old from Sagamok Anishnawbek First Nation, was charged with Possession of Prohibited Device or Ammunition for Dangerous Purpose, contrary to section 88 of the CC. The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on Oct. 24, 2022.
Lydia Nahmiwan, 28 years old from Sagamok Anishnawbek First Nation, was charged with:
• Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking - Cocaine, contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA
• Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking - Opioid (other than heroin) (Four Counts), contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA
• Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000, contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the CC
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on Oct. 24, 2022.
Debra Paibomsai, 48 years old from Sagamok Anishnawbek First Nation, was charged with:
• Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking - Cocaine, contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA
• Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking - Opioid (other than heroin) (Four Counts), contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA
• Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000, contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the CC
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on Oct. 24, 2022.
Tyler Paibomsai, 39 years old from Sagamok Anishnawbek First Nation, was charged with:
• Possession of a Schedule I substance - Methamphetamine, contrary to section 4(1) of the CDSA
• Possession of a Schedule I substance - Opioid (other than heroin), contrary to section 4(1) of the CDSA
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on Oct. 24, 2022.
A 16-year-old from Scarborough was charged with:
• Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking - Cocaine, contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA
• Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking - Opioid (other than heroin) (Four Counts), contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA
• Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose, contrary to section 88 of the CC
• Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000, contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the CC
The accused was scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Court in Espanola on Sept. 2, 2022.
Hanad Ahmed, 27 years old from Scarborough, was charged with:
• Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking - Cocaine, contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA
• Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking - Opioid (other than heroin) (Four Counts), contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA
• Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose, contrary to section 88 of the CC
• Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000, contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the CC
• Possession of Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order, contrary to section 117.01(1) of the CC
