Man accused of peeing on cell floor, walls while in OPP custody

BLIND RIVER - Passed-out customer charged with multiple offences. 

On Dec. 18, 2024 at approximately 11 p.m., the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of an intoxicated person who had passed out at a table with a bottle of alcohol at a local coffee shop on Causley Street in Blind River.

Upon arrival, police observed the intoxicated individual walking away from the business. The person was arrested and taken to the Blind River detachment. While in custody, [it is alleged that] the individual became belligerent, urinated on the floor and walls, and later stuffed their shirt into the cell toilet, splashing toilet water throughout the cell.

As a result, Gerry Dickinson, 19 years old from Blind River, was charged with:

  • Mischief under $5,000
  • Failure to comply with undertaking
  • Being intoxicated in public place

The accused is scheduled to appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on Feb. 6, 2025.
