Man accused of elbowing, headbutting parent, confining them to bunkhouse

Brantford resident faces multiple charges after OPP responded to a family dispute in Thessalon on Sunday afternoon

THESSALON — Parent assaulted and restrained by sibling.  

On Dec. 22, 2024, at approximately 2:45 p.m., the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a family dispute on Dawson Street in the Town of Thessalon.

The investigation revealed that an adult sibling had elbowed their parent in the face, then proceeded to headbutt them while restraining the parent in a chair for an extended period. The sibling also prevented the parent from leaving a bunkhouse on the property and pocketed their cell phone.

As a result, Matthew Bosworth, 30 years-old from Brantford, was charged with:

  • Assault
  • Mischief under $5000
  • Forcible confinement
  • Possession of a Schedule I Narcotic
  • Fail to comply with probation order

The accused appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice Video Bail in Blind River on December 23, 2024, and was remanded into custody.
