Man, 64, charged after wielding large dagger at police

Police safely apprehended a person after being called to a neighbour dispute on Forest Place. 

On July 2 the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police was called to a residence on Forest Place in relation to a neighbour dispute. When officers attempted to speak to one of the people involved, the person threatened police with a large dagger-style knife in hand. After effective de-escalation communication, police were able to safely apprehend the person. 

Daniel LESLIE, 62-years-old, of Elliot Lake was charged with: 

  • Assault with a weapon
  • Possession of weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Obstruct peace officer

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on Aug. 15.
