Impaired charges laid after vehicle driven at night with no lights on

A driver was charged this weekend after police stopped a vehicle in Elliot Lake for not having its lights on.

On Saturday at around 10:15 p.m. East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police say they were on general patrol when a vehicle stop was conducted on Laprairie Crescent. 

The driver was spoken to and exhibited signs of impairment by alcohol, the OPP said in a news release. 

The driver was arrested and charged and the vehicle was towed and impounded, police said.

Brooke Blair, 22, of Elliot Lake was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on Aug. 15.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and Blair is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
