ESPANOLA — The Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a two-vehicle collision on Highway 17 in the Township of Nairn-Hyman.
On Jan. 28, 2025, at approximately 5:30 p.m., the Manitoulin OPP received a call for a head-on collision between a pickup truck and a commercial motor vehicle (CMV). The driver of the pickup truck was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries by Manitoulin-Sudbury Paramedic Services. The driver of the CMV was not injured.
Highway 17 was closed while police conducted their investigation, and it was re-opened approximately one hour later.
As a result, the 18-year-old driver of the pickup truck was charged with careless driving.
