Blind River snowmobiler dies in crash north of Thessalon

58-year-old taken to hospital succumbed to their injuries from mishap Saturday evening

MAECK TOWNSHIP — Police say a Blind River resident has died following a snowmobiling accident north of Thessalon Saturday evening.

Police say the collision took place on Marisea Lake.

The lake is just west of Hwy. 129 not far from Aubrey Falls Provincial Park, about 120 km north of Thessalon.

The East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police and Algoma Paramedics Service responded to the single MSV collision March 15 at around 6:30 p.m.

A 58-year-old from Blind River was transported to a hospital in Thessalon. 

The victim later succumbed to their injuries and was pronounced deceased.

A postmortem will take place in Sault Ste. Marie at a later date, the OPP said in a news release.
