August 25. 1934 – December 18. 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jack Perron, who left us peacefully on December 18,2024, at the age of 90.  Born on August 25,1934, in Kirkland Lake, Ontario. Jack lived a life marked by hard work, generosity and deep love for his family.

Jack was a devoted husband to his beloved wife Velma, with whom he shared 70 wonderful years of marriage. He was a loving father to Christine (Chester) Sheldon “Joey” (Angele) and a proud grandfather to Christopher (Natalie), Danny, Chantal (Kenny), and Kyle (David), as well as a great-grandfather to Keedan. He was predeceased by his son Peter, daughter-in-law Jasmine, his parents George and Eva, and stepmother Laura, as well as his sister Pearl and stepbrothers Russell and Teddy. He is survived by his sister Mionne and stepsister Sheila.

Jack was a dedicated miner, spending 40 years of his life working in the industry before retiring. Known for his strong work ethic, he built a reputation for being a dependable and kind man. He had a passion for cars, often enjoying the thrill of a good deal at yard sales or while salvaging treasures. Jack was also known for his self-appointed mission to “clean up the environment” by driving around collecting beer bottles and recycling.

A fan of the Toronto Maple Leaf’s, Jack took great pride in watching the team as he had once played hockey in his youth. Above all, Jack’s most defining quality was his kindness—he greeted everyone with a warm smile, always thinking of others before himself.

Jack faced a courageous battle with cancer for 5 years, extending his life in order to spend more time with those he loved. Despite his illness, his heart remained full of love, and he found peace knowing he would be reunited with his son Peter.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Dr. Amir, and all the nurses and support staff at St. Joseph’s Hospital and St. Joseph’s Manor for their care, professionalism, and compassion during Jack’s final days. Your kindness has touched our hearts, and we are forever grateful.

In accordance with Jack’s wishes, there will be no formal service. He preferred to be remembered for the man he was before his illness—a loving, generous soul with a deep affection for his family and a heart as big as his smile. We like to imagine Jack now, hitching a ride in his favourite Cadillac, on his journey to the other side.

Jack may no longer be with us in body, but his spirit will live on in the memories of all who loved him. Rest in peace Jack. You will forever be missed.
