It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Muriel Ouimet (Nee Muriel Margaret Beresford, Arvida, QC, June 24, 1930) of natural causes on June 3, 2024 at the St Joseph's Hospital in Elliot Lake, ON. 

Muriel was predeceased by husband Gordon Arthur Ouimet  (Aug 1998), and daughter Bonnie Margaret Ouimet (October 2003).    She was also the last surviving sibling of 11 brothers & sisters of the family of Walter Beresford (father) and Margaret McKillip Beresford (mother).  All siblings were born in the community of Arvida, QC, Canada but Mr & Mrs Beresford originate from Scotland. She is survived by sons Gordon James Ouimet (Marie Christine) (Elliot Lake, ON),   Randell John Ouimet (Lynn) (Sudbury, ON),  and Daughter Janet Lee Mary Ouimet (Dave)(Hope, BC);  by grandchildren (Sons of Gordon James) Gordon Jean Joseph Ouimet (Ottawa, ON), Nicholas Patrick Alphonse Ouimet (Calgary, AB), Jonathan Peter Randell Ouimet (Valley East, ON), James William George Ouimet (Fernie, BC), (Son and Daughter of Randell John)  David Ouimet (Sudbury, ON), Jessica Lynn Ouimet (Vancouver, BC),  (Daughters of Janet Lee Mary) Lisa Grimaldi & Michelle Grimaldi (Toronto, ON),   Rose Ouimet (Hope, BC).  Muriel is also survived by 17 great grandchildren and  2 great great grandchildren.

Very active in Elliot Lake as an avid golfer and curler, Muriel will be remembered by many friends throughout the community and along the North Shore area of Lake Huron.  She is also very proud to have been an original employee of Elliot Lake Retirement Living after having earned her Real Estate Sales Agent License in 1990 at the age of 60. Muriel was 21 days shy of her 94th birthday which will be celebrated on the evening of June 24, 2024.   

A casual Memorial/Celebration of Life/Birthday Party will be held to honour Muriel's life and her passing,  commencing at 6:00 pm on Monday, June 24 at the Grace Christian Centre, 1 College Place (Colwill Drive), Elliot Lake, ON. A very brief memorial funeral service will take place at 6:30 pm, presented by Pastors Glenn and Alice Forrest. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honour Muriel's memory may make donations in her name to the St. Joseph's Hospital Foundation. Funeral Arrangements are entrusted to Alternative Funeral Services.
