The annual Witches Dance swept through Blind River’s Woodward Avenue, the town’s business core, today to the delight of spectators who lined the route.
It marked the sixth anniversary of the popular fall event organized by Kristy Blanchet and saw about 25 witches of all ages do their dance to uplifting music despite chilly and cloudy weather. Fortunately, the rain held off for the afternoon performance.
The dance was held in conjunction with the Fall Festival, where vendors lined the street selling a variety of goods to the large crowd. Halloween decorations were prominent, and there was space for kids to play games.
Blanchet had hoped to attract Warlocks to the dance, but none were to be seen. It’s a wish she has every year. For those who do participate, Blanchet said dancers do it just for fun and take part in outdoor practices to hone their moves.
