NEWS RELEASE
ST. JOSEPH'S GENERAL HOSPITAL
*************************
St. Joseph’s General Hospital Elliot Lake would like to advise the public that the gastrointestinal outbreak that was declared at our long-term care home by Algoma Public Health has concluded, and visitation resumes to the normal visiting hours.

We want to express our gratitude for the cooperation and understanding of our community. While the situation is under control, it is crucial to remain vigilant and continue taking precautionary measures to ensure the ongoing safety of our residents and staff.

SJGHEL would like to point out some key points to remember before visiting:

  • Self-Screen: If you are feeling unwell or have been in close contact with someone who has been unwell, please postpone your visit until you are symptom-free and have completed any necessary quarantine
  • Mask Mandate: Wearing a mask is mandatory for all visitors on the premises. Masks must always cover both the nose and mouth. This precaution helps minimize the risk of transmission
  • Hand Hygiene: Maintain good hand hygiene by frequently washing your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or using hand sanitizer provided at designated stations

It is our collective responsibility to maintain a safe and secure environment for our residents and staff. By following these precautionary measures, we can continue to protect the well-being of everyone within our long-term care home.
