A COVID-19 outbreak at St. Joseph’s General Hospital Elliot Lake’s Camillus Centre is over.
Visitation at the site has resumed during normal hours.
"We want to express our sincere gratitude to the entire SJGHEL community, including our dedicated healthcare professionals, staff, patients, and their families, for their collective efforts in resolving this outbreak," said SJGHEL CEO Jeremy Stevenson in a news release.
Earlier this week, the hospital announced an earlier outbreak on the third floor was also no longer an issue.
However SJGHEL says the infections of the virus continue to be a problem at St. Joe’s Manor and universal masking is still in place at all sites.
In addition, there are several steps people can take to protect themselves and others from respiratory viruses:
- Wash your hands often with soap and water or use an alcohol-based sanitizer.
- Ensure full immunization including booster doses for those who are eligible.
- Wear a mask in public spaces.
- If you are not feeling well, stay home and rest or contact your primary health care provider.
- Observe social distancing and respiratory etiquette.
- Reduce indoor air pollution via adequate ventilation where possible.
