Our Village has expanded again — this time to downtown Toronto!

Village Media, the local news company that operates this community website, has launched another Ontario news source: TorontoToday.ca.

Unveiled this morning, TorontoToday will cover the city's core like never before — with a boots-on-the-ground focus on the people, places, events and information that make downtown Toronto such a unique and vibrant community.

That’s the key word here: community. Although there is no shortage of media outlets serving Canada’s largest city, our mission is to bring a whole new level of hyperlocal journalism to Toronto's downtown neighbourhoods.

Our talented team of reporters and editors will introduce readers to downtown artists, entrepreneurs, volunteers and so many other fascinating people doing inspiring things. And they will shine a spotlight on problems that need fixing, always asking the tough questions on your behalf.

The editor of TorontoToday is veteran journalist Allison Smith, founder of the leading political newsletter Queen's Park Today.

“I have called Toronto home for 16 years and I am so excited to turn my journalistic eye on the city,” Smith says. “There is so much local news that goes unreported. TorontoToday is going to change that.”

TorontoToday will feature two daily e-mail newsletters delivered straight to your inbox: The Stir (7 a.m.) and The Tone (3 p.m.). You can sign up for both free newsletters HERE and HERE.

More importantly, each site is a trusted source of accurate, fact-based journalism and other important information, including weather reports, obituaries and classifieds.
