Three new forest fires in the northeast region

Currently four other fires located in the region, one of which is being observed and three are under control

Three new wildfires have been confirmed as of this afternoon, one of which is near the Sault, the Ministry of Northern Development, Mines, Natural Resources and Forestry said in a release today.

  • Chapleau 15,located on an island on Duck Lake, is out at 0.1 hectare.
  • Sudbury 33, located on the northeast side of Tank Lake, is a 0.1 hectare lightning fire. It is under control.
  • Sudbury 34, located 300 metres west of Fox road and one kilometre east of Rat Lake, is a 0.2 hectare fire. It is not under control.

There are four other active wildland fires in the Northeast Region, one is being observed and three are under control.

The fire hazard is low to moderate for the majority of the Northeast Region. Temiskaming Shores to the Georgian Bay is showing a high hazard.
