After being hired as Manager of Special Projects in January, three quarters of a year later Steve Antunes has been named Manager of Economic Development.
That position was recently left vacant with the departure of Ashten Vlahovich.
Reporting to CAO Daniel Gagnon, Antunes will be responsible for Economic Development programs and services. Mr. Gagnon says the appointment is to rebuild Economic Development.
In a news release, Gagnon stated,
"This leaves the position of Special Projects Manager vacant and a posting is being advertised to fill that position as soon as possible," said Gagnon in a media release. "Mr. Antunes has quickly established himself as a key member of our management team."
Gagnon said Antunes is perfectly suited to economic development and the city is going to need someone who is with so many projects on the horizon.
"Council and I agreed that filling the project manager role remains critical to our community's ongoing success and to manage our future demands," Gagnon added. "At the same time, the city is seeking a Director of Culture and Recreation as a department head to oversee the rebuilding of the Recreation and Culture Department following a recent resignation (former Culture and Recreation Manager Darla Hennessey), and to meet the demands of the ongoing pandemic."
In the meantime, Amelia D'Amato has been appointed acting Manager of Recreation and Culture.
Two more positions are slated for posting in the near future, Chief Building Official and Deputy Clerk.
