In a momentous development for St. Joseph’s General Hospital (SJGHEL), Kelli-Ann Lemieux has officially stepped into the role of chief executive officer as of Jan. 20, 2025.
With over 26 years of experience in the healthcare sector, Lemieux’s appointment is anticipated to bring a fresh perspective and innovative leadership to the hospital.
Before joining SJGHEL, Lemieux held the position of vice-president of Surgical and Clinical Services at Health Sciences North (HSN). In that role, she was instrumental in overseeing clinical operations and enhancing patient care. Her leadership was further solidified through her role as president of Sudbury Vascular Laboratory Ltd., where she gained valuable experience in managing complex healthcare environments.
Lemieux's leadership skills were further developed at Sault Area Hospital, where she served in senior management roles, gaining expertise in Diagnostics, Allied Health, and Mental Health and Addiction Services.
Her nearly 17 years at SAH saw her in numerous clinical leadership roles, including quality assurance coordinator and laboratory manager, all of which contributed to her robust understanding of healthcare operations.
Academically, Lemieux is a Certified Health Executive with the Canadian College of Health Leaders and holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Athabasca University.
Lemieux’s extensive background in healthcare management positions her well to navigate challenges and opportunities facing SJGHEL. Her commitment to patient-centred care, coupled with her ability to foster collaboration among healthcare professionals, will be essential as the hospital aims to meet the evolving needs of the Elliot Lake community and its surrounding areas.
“I am honoured to join such a dedicated team and to serve the healthcare needs of Elliot Lake and its surrounding communities,” stated Lemieux. She added, “I look forward to working closely with staff, physicians, and community partners to enhance our services and ensure that we continue to provide exceptional care to our patients and their families.”
As Lemieux steps into her new role, there is optimism regarding the future of SJGHEL. Under Lemieux’s leadership, the hospital aims to enhance its reputation for quality care by building on past successes and adopting innovative practices to improve patient outcomes.
Board Chair Elaine Johnston expressed the hospital’s enthusiasm for Lemieux’s arrival.
“We are excited to welcome Kelli-Ann to SJGHEL. She has demonstrated the expertise and values that align with our mission of providing high-quality, patient and family-centred care,” Johnston said. “Her leadership and vision will be instrumental in continuing the excellent care provided at SJGHEL, and we are confident she will be a great asset to the community.
