Snow squall watch in effect for:
    •    Blind River - Thessalon
    •    Espanola - Killarney
    •    Manitoulin Island

Frontal snow squalls expected early this evening.

A cold front will move rapidly southeastward over the region early this evening and near zero visibility due to blowing snow and a quick accumulation of snow is expected. Snow accumulations may only be a few centimetres however travel may be hazardous at times this evening.

Snow squalls cause weather conditions to vary considerably; changes from clear skies to heavy snow within just a few kilometres are common. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow.

    •    Sault Ste. Marie - St. Joseph Island

Lake effect snow squalls expected today.

Lake effect snow squalls are expected to develop in a west flow off Lake Superior this afternoon. Near zero visibility is also possible as a cold front moves southeastward over the region later this afternoon.

Total snowfall amounts of 10 to 15 cm by later tonight will be possible along with significant reductions to visibility under the most intense bands.

Snow squall activity will shift southward overnight as winds become northerly.
Travel may be hazardous due to sudden changes in the weather. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow.
