*************************
Snow squall warning issued for:

  •    Elliot Lake - Ranger Lake
  •    Blind River - Thessalon

Current details:
Lake effect snow squalls tonight and again Friday night into Saturday.

Hazards:
Locally heavy snowfall with accumulations near 10 cm tonight.
Additional accumulations possibly exceeding 20 cm Friday night into Saturday.
Poor visibility at times in heavy snow and local blowing snow.

Timing:
Tonight and Friday morning, followed by a break. Redevelopment likely Friday evening and continuing into Saturday.

Discussion:
Lake effect snow off Lake Superior and the North Channel will continue tonight and then move out of the area Friday morning. Lake effect snow squalls will likely redevelop Friday evening and may persist into Saturday.

The most significant activity is expected to remain west of the towns of Elliot Lake and Blind River.

Snow squalls cause weather conditions to vary considerably; changes from clear skies to heavy snow within just a few kilometres are common. Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations.

Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions.
