The Onaping Falls Recreation Committee’s 2024 Summer Fest is happening this weekend, July 6-7 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

For the first time, the festival won’t be held in the community of Onaping, but to accommodate some very special guests, will be held at Northern Legacy Horse Farm in Whitefish (688 Panache Lake Road).

That’s because both days will feature a special performance from the world-renowned RCMP Musical Ride at 3 p.m.

Every year, the Musical Ride brings its show to communities across the country to perform a variety of figures and drills choreographed to music. A media release from Summer Fest states the show provides the public with an opportunity to experience the heritage and traditions of the RCMP and raise funds for local charities across Canada.

Proceeds from the event will be split evenly between the Onaping Falls Recreation Committee and Pet Save Sudbury.

“We are proud to welcome the world’s most recognized horses and riders to our equestrian facility,” said Craig Fielding, owner of Northern Legacy Horse Farm. “We are incredibly lucky to host the iconic RCMP Musical Ride while they’re performing for the community. Be sure not to miss this famous family event.”

Alongside the RCMP Musical Ride performance, Summer Fest will have a variety of activities for guests of all ages. Attendees can enjoy inflatable obstacle courses, a ropes course, a rock climbing wall, face painting, games and more, all included in the purchase of a ticket. More than 50 local food and craft vendors will be selling homemade goods as well.

“We are excited to host our seventh annual OFRC Summer Fest this year and thrilled to bring the RCMP Musical Ride back to Greater Sudbury,” said Carrie Morin, Onaping Falls Recreation Committee. “This year’s Summer Fest is something you will not want to miss.”

You can purchase tickets directly on the Summer Fest website at onapingfallssummerfest.ca, or in person at Pet Save Retail Thrift Store, Walden Home Hardware, Northwest Lumber, Onaping Kwik-way, Levack IDA Pharmacy or Windy Lake Restaurant.
