It doesn't happen very often, but Elliot Lake City Council will meet in closed session Monday afternoon to hear a pitch from Elliot Lake Retirement Living with their plan to develop property the agency owns west of Spine Beach.

"Based on positive trends of low vacancy rates and a developing housing shortage across the community, Elliot Lake Retirement Living is reviewing their plans for land they own west of Spine Beach," says Elliot Lake CAO Daniel Gagnon.

The agency is expected to pitch a development that could mean the city would buy land for municipal purposes.

Gagnon said Elliot Lake Retirement Living is expected to share confidential information that could harm its competitive position in the retirement housing industry, if made public.

The closed special council meeting will be held in the City Hall council chambers at 4 p.m.
