The Rainbow District School Board said it is currently experiencing a system-wide network disruption.
“Rainbow District School Board is currently experiencing technical difficulties with its computer network,” said a memo posted on the board’s website Feb. 7.
“In an abundance of caution, all computer systems and applications will be turned off at approximately 10 a.m.”
The memo said there will be no access to email, voice mail, Google drive, social media or any other applications that Rainbow board schools use on a day-to-day basis.
This notice affects the Centre for Education and all schools in Sudbury, Espanola and Manitoulin Island.
All schools remain open. All classes and programs continue, said the memo. Teachers will adjust their lesson plans accordingly.
“Should you need to reach your child, you are asked to visit the school or contact your child on their cell phone,” the memo said. “Students will be allowed to check their phones periodically.
Rainbow District School Board’s website is not affected by this disruption.
The board asked parents to visit rainbowschools.ca for updates. More information will be shared on our website as it becomes available.
Sudbury.com reached out to Rainbow board spokesperson Nicole Charette, and she shared the following statement: "We are currently assessing the situation, and when we know more, we will share more information."
We asked if the board is experiencing a cyber attack, and she said "I'm not able to confirm that at this time, because we are currently assessing the situation."
