Fire officials say there is just one active wildland fire in the northeast fire region of Ontario and there have been no new fires since the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry's last update on Monday.

Cochrane 2 (COC002) was confirmed on April 29 and its status is being observed.

The 30-hectare fire is located north of the Albany River and about 60 km southwest of Fort Albany, according to Aviation, Forest Fire and Emergency Services (AFFES) for the northeast region.

Meanwhile, the fire hazard is low in areas of the region south of Timmins and Wawa, the AFFES said.
