North Shore Cruisers launch fundraiser at No Frills

The club is hoping to raise funds to help children get their treatments since the annual car races at the airport in mid-summer have been cancelled

The North Shore Cruisers Sick Kid Fund launched its opening work at No Frills in Elliot Lake Friday.

Cruisers president Denis Villeneuve, who was taking donations with fundraiser Leo Deveau, said the club is looking at raising more funds to help children get their treatments since the annual car races at the airport in mid-summer have been cancelled. The drag races have generally seen the club raising about $8,000 for its ongoing children’s charity.

It’s hoped that this year’s fundraiser will help to fill that gap.

The club will be setting up the fundraising table at No Frills, Foodland and Canadian Tire, which assists in sponsorship, over the next couple of weeks.

The draw will be held in June.
