March for Meals: Recognizing and honouring vital community program

Meals on Wheels and its volunteers serve seniors or those living with disabilities

This week the communities in around Sault Ste. Marie and Elliot Lake are celebrating March for Meals, raising awareness about this important program that helps provide healthy, well-balanced meals to seniors or those living with disabilities.

As a community provider, Algoma Manor provides services three times a week to Thessalon, Bruce Mines and Iron Bridge with the help of its dedicated, volunteer drivers.

As the program is recognized and honoured it becomes clear that special people are involved.

A long-time volunteer driver and big supporter of our Meals on Wheels program, MPP Bill Rosenberg, took the time to meet with the team once again and help deliver meals. Today, we had help from PC Gauthier at Ontario Provincial Police - North East Region, who experienced what it means to be a volunteer driver, and helped deliver meals to Thessalon residents.
