Every year, the Elliot Lake Legion Branch 561 hosts a poster, poem and essay contest for all the students in the North Shore. Our Lady of Fatima Catholic School submitted more than 40 entries to the contest.
Of those entries, there were eight students who won prizes. The students are also members of the Fatima Mensa Academy Enrichment Program. The literary and poster entries were a requirement of the program and these high-achieving students are also completing other extra assignments, maintaining an above 75 per cent average and all Es or Gs for learning skills on their report cards.
“We are very proud of these gifted students who continue to work hard with their academics,” principal Andrew Chi said in a release issued today.
