The St. Joseph’s Hospital Auxiliary is gearing up for its much-anticipated annual Olde Fashioned Turkey Dinner, scheduled for October 24 at Heritage Hall, located at 171 Spruce Avenue.

With only 80 tickets available, this popular event is expected to sell out quickly, so those interested are encouraged to secure their tickets as soon as possible. Tickets are $30 each and a cash bar is available for some delicious libations.

Deborah Gatrick, a dedicated member of the auxiliary and event coordinator, is putting together this year’s dinner, which promises to be a delightful evening filled with delicious food and community spirit. The event will be catered by Claire McCormick a volunteer member of the auxiliary.

Carol Rott, President of the auxiliary, expressed her excitement about the event, stating, “Each ticket sold makes you eligible for a free gift basket.” This added incentive has made the dinner a favourite among locals, who not only enjoy a hearty meal but also the chance to win a special prize.

In addition to the turkey dinner, the auxiliary will be selling their popular Cranberry Cookbook for $15 each. This cookbook features a variety of recipes that highlight the versatility of berries, a staple ingredient in many holiday dishes.

The auxiliary is also planning more events in the coming months, including the annual Cranberry Scones and Tea bake sale in December. Admission to the bake sale is set at $10, providing another opportunity for community members to support the auxiliary while enjoying homemade treats.

The success of these events relies heavily on the dedication of volunteers who generously give their time to set up, prepare, serve food, and clean up afterward. “Each event is run by volunteers who are passionate about supporting our community and the hospital,” Rott noted. Their hard work ensures that every gathering is not only enjoyable but also runs smoothly.

Membership in St. Joseph’s Hospital Auxiliary is just $5 per year, and monthly meetings are held on the third Monday of each month. Since its inception in 1958, the auxiliary has raised over a million dollars for vital hospital research, making a significant impact on healthcare in the region.

As the date approaches, excitement is building for the annual Olde Fashioned Turkey Dinner. Community members are encouraged to purchase their tickets early to avoid disappointment and to support the ongoing efforts of St. Joseph’s Hospital Auxiliary in enhancing healthcare services in Elliot Lake.

Tickets can be purchased by calling Carol Rott at 705-849-5511 or by emailing [email protected].
