At École Saint-Joseph (Blind River), several girls in grades 6 and 8 are proud participants in the school's FitSpirit Club. Under the guidance of teacher Heather Roberts, the girls meet three times a week during lunch to get active. They have fun running, walking and channelling their energy in the beautiful spring sunshine.
Just last year, Annie Azzi, a former Grade 8 student and graduate of École Saint-Joseph, was inspired by her participation in the FitSpirit Club and took the initiative to organize a 5-kilometre run for the community of Blind River. This race will take place on Thursday, June 13, at 6 p.m., at the Blind River Boom Camp.
This club succeeds in promoting wellness and physical health while providing an opportunity for young girls to have fun and feel good surrounded by other girls who share a similar interest.
FitSpirit is a foundation that provides opportunities for girls between the ages of 12 to 17 to adopt a healthy and active lifestyle in an affirming environment. As FitSpirit’s flagship program, FitClub encourages girls in this age group to enjoy the benefits of getting active with friends.
