Fishing derby 2025

This evening at 7 p.m. at city hall, Elliot Lakers will hear an event organizer discuss potential plans and take questions from the council for the annual Fishing Derby.

Reached this morning by phone, Blaise Kurucz of the non-profit organization, Right Track Racing, said he is in town to attend this evening’s council meeting in person.

At this time, Kurucz believes a fishing derby in Elliot Lake this year could be possible. He plans to share a potential date and other details this evening.

Ski hill parking lot lease

Council will hear a proposal for a 5-year lease of the parking lot adjacent to the ski hill to the hill to the Mt. Dufour Ski Area during the skiing season months.

CAO search

Interim CAO Rob deBortoli will present a report to council recommending that the council authorize the cost of an executive recruiter to find a permanent, full-time CAO for the city. A previous story is here.

Tonight’s council meeting begins at 7 p.m. at city hall. Meetings are livestreamed here and broadcast on Eastlink cable channel 10.
