The Elliot Lake Red Wings of the NOJHL have announced that former NHL'er Raffi Torres has been named the club's NHL mentor.
Red Wings made the announcement in an online posting Friday, "Friend of the Elliot Lake Red Wings Raffi Torres will be part of the 21/22 season as our NHL mentor.
"Raffi will be helping by talking to our players both on and off the ice. He was drafted by the New York Islanders 5th overall in the 2000 NHL entry draft.
"He played in the NHL for the New York Islanders, Edmonton Oilers, Columbus Blue Jackets, Buffalo Sabres, Vancouver Canucks, Phoenix Coyotes and San Jose Sharks.
"Raffi will be helping out at our camp and golf tournament on August 28 and is a great inspiration to young upcoming hockey players.
"We look forward to and appreciate his upcoming mentorship."
The Red Wings are holding their training camp and tryouts at Elliot Lake's Centennial Arena from June 10 through 13.
