Elliot Lake Pride Parade goers got wet but remained enthusiastic (9 photos)

The final Elliot Lake Pride Festival Weekend event will be the annual church service at Holy Trinity United Church, Sunday morning at 10:30 a.m.

The 2019 Elliot Lake Pride Festival parade got underway late Saturday morning from the Hampton Inn. It really wasn't parade weather with the thermometer hovering around the low double digits and a steady light drizzle falling through the fog-shrouded air.

Nonetheless, more than two dozen entrants massed in the parking lot of Elliot Lake Retirement Living, adjacent to the Hampton Inn on Highway 108 in the marshalling area, to be escorted by two officers driving cruisers from the East Algoma OPP,  along the parade route.

Elliot Lake Pride founder Douglas Elliott escorted parade participants from the lobby of Hampton Inn along the sidewalk outside, under the shelter of a rainbow coloured umbrella, to their waiting rides. They included this year's Emperor of Algoma, Steve Meawsige and Empress of Algoma Anya Face (aka Donny Corbett), along with last year's honorees Corey Doughty and Tyrina Cyr.

The parade vehicles with horns blaring and music playing, wound it's way along the streets of downtown Elliot Lake to Hillside Drive North. From there it was on to Elliot Lake Secondary School for a barbecue.

Miss Conception’s TV Land show will be presented in the ELSS gymnasium at 7 p.m. Saturday. Admission is $15.
