This morning, Acting Mayor Wannan and Councillor Flintoff joined members of Elliot Lake Pride in raising the Pride Flag and proclaiming June 2023 as Pride Month in Elliot Lake.
Pride Month Proclamation:
WHEREAS Elliot Lake is an inclusive, diverse and welcoming city for
everyone;
AND WHEREAS lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered, queer, 2-spirit and Intersex (LGBTQ2SI) citizens work and live with Pride in Elliot Lake;
AND WHEREAS lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered, queer, 2-spirit and Intersex citizens make important contributions to our city;
AND WHEREAS lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered, queer, 2-spirit and Intersex citizens of Elliot Lake have historically faced significant challenges as they strive toward equality;
AND WHEREAS Elliot Lake welcomes tourists, visitors and new residents regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity;
AND WHEREAS all citizens of Elliot Lake take Pride in our diversity and celebrate our differences
NOW THEREFORE, I, Andrew Wannan, Acting Mayor of the City of
Elliot Lake hereby proclaim June 2023 as "PRIDE MONTH" in the City of Elliot Lake.
